Day 3: Reflect on how you’ve pushed through in the past.
Hey Terri,
A few months ago, I was speaking at an event across the country. I had a few hours to wait until I was on stage when I started feeling nerves. It was that old familiar sense of doubt creeping in and I knew I had to do something to fight against the fear. So I told myself something very simple:
“You have done this before. You can do this again.”
You know what’s so powerful about that? You have proof that you can get through hard things. Fear, doubt and overwhelm don’t get a hold on you because you have proof that you can do this.
Today, reflect on how you’ve pushed through in the past.
Think about all the things you’ve faced that seemed unbearable at the time and how you still got through it. As Instagram memes remind us, you have survived 100% of your worst days. When you reflect on how you’ve pushed through in the past, you remind yourself of how strong and capable you are.
Friend, whatever you’re going through may feel exhausting and overwhelming, but it’s not going to crush you. You have pushed through before and you will push through again. When you remember that, you feel a little braver, a little more confident, a little more powerful, and hopefully, a little less discouraged.
But we’re not done yet. Tomorrow we’ll talk about something that will help you hold on with even more hope.
I’ll see you then!
